Nancy of the Thandukuphila Project is held up by two gunmen. [0]
I have received word from Nancy, Project Manager of the Thandukuphila Centre. A few days ago on leaving the bank she was stopped by two men brandishing guns.
Nancy was absolutely terrified and thought she would lose her life. The gunmen thought she had withdrawn thousands of pounds from the bank. There is not thousands of pounds in the bank to be withdrawn and she had taken approx £60 which the gunmen took. Nancy said she screamed for help and for someone to phone the police at which point the gunmen ran off.
Because they had guns no-one came forward to help Nancy which I feel may have saved her life. If someone had try to tackle the men maybe in their panic they would have used the guns.
Nancy is now badly traumatised and still in shock but grateful that she still has her life.
Nancy is just getting on her feet after being so ill last year and this incident has now set her back again.
Support no longer available for Hope Project [0]
Sadly I am no longer able to support Hope Project. This is due to lack of communication, receipts and feed back.
Without this vital information I feel unable to continue funding this project.
All funding now goes solely to the Thandukuphila Project with whom I am in regular contact and from whom I received receipts, photos, letters and all the feed back required to run the charity correctly.
Money sent to South Africa [0]
On November 5th £13,685 was sent out to South Africa. This amount is comprised of all the school/uniform fees, college fees and the sponsored walk money.
The two children's centres/crèches are in desperate need of hot water urns also nappies and formula are needed for the babies. I am still waiting to hear what Nancy, Project manager of Thandukuphila Centre, has chosen, out of the many needs, to spend any remaining money on.
